My Approach

“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”
—Buddha

As a therapist with 30 years experience with a diverse clientele, I recognize that the underlying issue that most people face is a lack of compassion for themselves. In fact, we are often our own worst critic, and this 'judge' tends to run our lives until we feel worn out, depleted and either anxious or depressed. If we can start to see the big picture of our lives, we can recognize our own strengths, have gratitude for what is working, and face with compassion those issues that were once too painful to deal with. When we can learn to feel self-compassion, we tend to attract healthier relationships at home and at work and make life decisions that bring us greater happiness.

I am a Certified Internal Family Systems therapist (Level 2), teacher and workshop leader, and I use many techniques to heal trauma and shift one’s perspective, leading to greater peace, joy and positive change in one’s life.

The goal of IFS therapy is to understand and bring compassion to inner parts of ourselves, such as:

  • Parts that manage life in ways that are not always healthy, such as overworking, excessive worry or self-criticism

  • Parts that cope with feelings or numb out with addictive or unhealthy behaviors

  • Parts that carry pain from childhood experiences and trauma

We also all have a wise and compassionate Self at our core, which can take leadership and help our parts to heal.

IFS therapy helps us understand and appreciate how these parts of us have helped us in life, and has a method to unburden any pain they are carrying so they are freer and able to access more peace and joy in life. From there we can employ new life strategies and develop clarity about our life purpose led by our higher Self.

I specialize in techniques that help with self-esteem issues, childhood wounding, and co-dependency, such as:

  • Learning how to shift your negative thoughts to greater self-compassion

  • Mindfulness and somatic techniques, such as meditation and breathing

  • Building a stronger Self through inner awareness and spirituality

  • Communication techniques to improve relationships, and set boundaries

  • Identifying internal “parts” and unburdening past trauma

  • Learning to find joy, empowerment and inspiration in your life

I bring a strong spiritual perspective from my training in Vipassana meditation, as a spiritual practitioner at Centers for Spiritual Living, and from training received from guided/channeled wisdom. I respect and support client’s individual belief systems as we work together.
